THE ONLY TRUE WAY

Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Scooby Doo movies, said this about spirituality. “I consider myself a spiritual person. I believe in an idea of God, although it’s my own personal ideal. I find most religions interesting, and I’ve been to every kind of denomination: Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist. I’ve taken bits from everything and customized it.” (Quoted from Brian Mavis message Jesus is the Only Way to God True or False)
It’s common for people to consider various religions. They pick and choose what they like and don’t like. It’s like attending a religious smorgasbord. Man rejects the fact we are made in God’s image and instead tries to remake God in his own image. Man creates a God to his liking where God does what they want and they don’t have to do what He wants.
Jesus says there is only one way (John 14:6) and God gets to define that one way because He is God. This exclusivity is a real stumbling block for people in a pluralistic society. Picking and choosing our own way that is most pleasing to our liking is our making our own god and is ultimately idolatry and ends in destruction (Ephesians 4:14-15). People are more open than we realize to “spiritual” discussions. As a follower of The Way, share your experience with the Living God and what you know of the true Savior no matter how little you think you know. Then flesh it out by living a honest, kind, caring and considerate lifestyle that honors God and How Word. We are to show the way to others by what we say and how we think, act, talk and live.
Jesus is God. As such He shows us God and the Way to Him. As His followers, we are to show what God is like by our words and actions. By following His way, we show others the true Way. The first name given to believers in the book of Acts was “followers of the Way” (Acts 4:12; 9:2; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22). Sometimes Christians try to ‘remake’ their image of God into something more to their liking and expectations. They play down the holiness of God or expect Him to meet all their wants and desires. To know God as He is, get to know Jesus. We God to be a different way, but He is only one Way and that is the way shown by Jesus. (September 28, 2020 Doylestown, PA)
John 14:6 Jesus answered: “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through Me.”
John 14:8-10 :He who ha seen the Father has seen me.”
When people see your life, do they see the way to Jesus? Are you thinking and living the way Jesus taught, or are you trying to mix various different ways into one in your life? Ask God to show you if you are following any way but His.
