ARE YOU A TURTLE CHRISTIAN?

If you’ve been reading my blogs you may remember me mentioning the fable of the tortoise and the hare.  It illustrates an important part of my personal life philosophy.  I value perseverance, as does God.  Sometimes Christians are on fire and live zealously for Jesus, but soon their zeal fades and their life reverts back to before they met Jesus. 

Recently I had the joy of reconnecting with several Christians I knew 35 years ago.  I was really touched, knowing they are still living for Jesus.  Their lives aren’t easy, but they stay faithful to their commitment.  I called them “Turtle Christians.”  Their faithfulness is most encouraging to me, and I’m sure to God as well.

It’s easy to make a fast start, but to faithfully persevere serving Jesus is impressive to me.  I’m sure God smiles when He looks at one of His Turtle Christians plodding away.  Are you a Turtle Christian?  I hope so!

Matthew 13:1-21  A farmer went out to sow his seed. … Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. Think of those who are good examples of Turtle Christians and thank God for them.  Would others consider you a Turtle Christian?  Now think of those who have fallen and pray for them.
