Jesus Is Coming Back For Us

JESUS IS COMING BACK FOR US

Current events have many Christians asking how things happening currently affect prophecy.  Some wonder how long things will continue as they are going and if Jesus is really coming back.  If so, why hasn’t He come back yet?  I can’t answer the ‘why’ or ‘when’ question, but the Bible removes any ‘if’ concerning His return.  He promised His disciples was that He would come back a second time. That return has been the cause of much speculation as well as doubt. If He does return, then we can be assured justice is coming and sin and evil will be gone. It confirms that this world is not all there is. If He doesn’t come back, then He lied and we have no future. If He lied about one thing, who knows how much else He lied about. If He is coming back or not is an important question. How can we know for sure it’ll happen?

PROOF FROM BIBLE PREDICTIONS:   The Bible is our authority, a trustworthy source of truth. There are over 300 references to the return of Jesus in the Bible – it isn’t a small or unimportant doctrine (Zechariah 11:10; Acts 1:11; Matthew 24:29-30; Revelation 19:6-16; 1:7; 22:7,12,17,20).

PROOF FROM JESUS’ PROMISES:  Jesus Himself promised He would return (John 14:3; Matthew 16:27; Luke 21:27; 19:11-27; Revelation 22:20). If He isn’t then He lied, and we know He is truth and there is no untruth in Him (John 14:6; 1 John 2:21).

PROOF FROM JESUS’ FOLLOWERS:  Those who followed Jesus firmly believed that Jesus was coming back and wrote about it in the Bible (Acts 3:11-12, 19-20; 2 Thessalonians 1:7, 10; 1 John 3:2). They didn’t make this up, but had heard it from Jesus Himself and saw it prophesied in the Old Testament. Their belief was founded on factual evidence.

PROOF FROM INNER HOPE:  Built into all of us is a natural longing for a better life, justice, removal of evil, peace, meaning and satisfaction. These things don’t happen in this world and only will when Jesus comes. God has built it into all people to look for when He comes to earth and sets right all that is wrong.

This is the hope, the confident assurance, of all who believe in Jesus. It is what we look forward to. The evidence shows that it will happen. Do you believe He will return (1 Corinthians 15:19-22)?  (March 11, 2024  Doylestown, PA)

1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Take a moment to sit and praise God for the wonderful future He has in store for you.  Thank Him for the promise of His return.

What difference can if make in your life today when you remember His promise to return?
