DOES GOD REALLY HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE?

DOES GOD REALLY HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE?

“God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life!” sounds good. It sounds true. No Christian would deny it, but many question how it works out in their lives. Things have not always gone according to the plans they made. Circumstances beyond their control bring pain and stress. How can this be God’s loving, wonderful plan? But if there is no plan for our lives, if everything is just by chance with no real meaning and purpose, then what’s the point in living? We lose all hope. That’s a big reason why the suicide is skyrocketing in recent years.

We need to know someone bigger than us is overseeing everything. Since things clearly are not in our control, are we foolish for believing in a loving, sovereign God? Does He have a plan for each of us? Does He have a plan for us in 2024?  How can we know for sure? Here is some proof.

PROOF FROM REASON If God is sovereign over everything then that includes us and our daily lives. If He is a God of love who created us and cares for us then it only stands to reason that He has a purpose for doing this. Each of us is uniquely made for a reason. God, as our Father, has plans and dreams for His children like any loving parent does. Since He is perfect all His plans for us are also perfect.

PROOF FROM OUR HEART We know that everything that happens is not by accident or chance. Inside our hearts we know there must be a plan, a purpose to life. This need for significance, meaning and purpose in life built into each of us must come from something greater than us and outside us. God created us to need that, in order that He may fulfill it in each of us.

PROOF FROM THE BIBLE The Bible tells us that God has a perfect plan for each and every one of us (Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 40:5). We can find deep comfort, encouragement and peace in knowing this. He created each of us different from everyone else. He loves us and proved it by paying for our sins on the cross. In good times we can thank Him for His perfect plan. In hard times when we don’t see His plan or purpose clearly, we can trust Him because we know all is part of His plan whether we see it or not (Romans 8:28) and that He Himself and all He does is perfect.  (For proof the Bible is God’s Word go to https://www.christiantrainingonline.org/our-ministries/india/articles/).

Knowing God has a plan and purpose for us, a goal we are moving to, should give us peace and hope. We may not understand, or even agree with that plan. We may not like what is happening in our lives, but if we trust in a sovereign, loving, all-knowing God, we can face the future with peace and confidence. He does have a plan. I’ve just given you proof of it. Now it’s up to us to trust Him and follow Him.  Doylestown, PA  (January 1, 2024)

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

What difference does it (or should it) make that God has a plan for your life, no matter how circumstances seem.

How should that impact how you enter 2024?
