“DELAYS POSSIBLE”
As we drive to see family there is road construction everywhere! One road sign said “Delays Possible.” It should really read “Delays Probable.”
Our patience runs low with delays. We just want to get to our destination ASAP. But for the Christian, life’s delays are an important part of our trip. In fact, delays can help us get to God’s destination quicker! When we trust God’s delays, patient endurance grows and we become more like Jesus, our ultimate destination in life.
We don’t always see the purpose of the road slow-downs. It seems there is no active road work but the reduced speed signs remain posted. We don’t always know why God slows life down. Unresolved problems, prayers that seem unanswered, pain that continues, trials that don’t end – God is behind them all. We may not always see “Men at Work” while driving, but we know God is always at work in our lives. Trust Him with whatever is going on in your life. Remember, delays are not only possible, they are probable.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,
Romans 12:2 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Where do you most lack patience in life today? Where does it seem God is moving too slowly in your life? How do you respond to the delays in life? Think of them as opportunities to trust God and turn them over to Him. He is never early and never late!
